360° Aerial Photography
We have a new aerial photography service here at Utah by Air – 360° aerial photography. This new product offers you a great view of your property or construction project, and allows you or your clients to scroll around and zoom in or zoom out on any section of the imagery. In addition, multiple 360° views can be linked together for larger projects, and labeling or web-enabled hotspots can be added to supply additional information for those viewing the imagery. The Time is Now! (Summer Solstice Considerations)
A professional ground or aerial shot of your building/facility is a great thing to be able to access. Think of the possibilities . . . websites, newsletters, brochures, letterhead, business cards, special announcements, boardroom décor, and more. From May through the middle of July the Utah sun rises to the north of the east west latitude lines. What has that got to do with anything??!! If you own a building that faces north, this is the only time of year when the sun hits the front surfaces. Spring and early summer are also when trees, flowers, and grass are looking their best. But don’t fret if your facility faces east, west, or south and you still want that springtime freshness. Even around the summer solstice (June 21st) the sun hits the south side of buildings from mid-morning to mid-afternoon before making its northward trek. And, east and west sides just need morning or afternoon sun. There is always a time of day when the light is best for a given location.
When using AIDA or PAS frameworks, it’s important to maintain a level of professionalism and adhere to ethical practices. If you need help creating engaging and informative content for promoting

Our staff has over 65 years of combined professional photography experience, we are licensed commercial pilots, certified master aerial photographers, and licensed drone operators. We can also use a lift truck for those times when you need a low level elevated shot where a drone is restricted or unsafe to use, such as some FAA controlled airspace, high pedestrian or vehicle traffic areas, places without reliable GPS signal, or high electrical or radio wave interference. Don’t think that just because a high angle shot is taken from an aircraft that the price is also high in the sky. More often than not that is just not the case. That high flying angle can really establish your location with respect to the rest of the surroundings, not to mention our majestic mountains.

The End of 2016 and the Beginning of 2017
For Photographic Solutions and Utah by Air, 2016 went out in style. Our last flight of the year took us over some of the amazing scenery that south central Utah has to offer. The San Rafael Swell and the canyons of the Dirty Devil river are amazing, and when the sun is low in the sky and light changes color, the scenery is spectacular! This flight reminded us once again of why we love flying above and photographing the diverse environments of Utah.
We have big plans for 2017! For starters, Allen is heading to Honduras to open the Noreen Macbean Childrens Center in honor of his wife who passed away in a cycling accident in 2015. In order to support the center, which will teach marketable skills to orphaned boys in Honduras, we’ll be starting an ongoing fundraising campaign. Each week we’ll feature a custom print of a different scenic aerial photograph, and a large portion of each print sold will go directly to the center. In June we’re planning an epic three week trip to Alaska! We’ll be flying our plane along with several friends in their planes in a loose caravan to the wild parts of Alaska, and documenting the whole trip from the air.
We’ve also updated our video capabilities and can now provide stabilized 4k video from our plane, in addition to our drone video services. The forward looking video from the airplane (see the sample video above) provides epic overviews of incredible scenery. Yellowstone in the Fall
For a few years, a good friend of mine, nature photographer Bernd Kupka (www.outdooradventurepics.com), has been trying to get me to go with him to Yellowstone and photograph wildlife. I’ve planned on going several times, but it never worked out. A few weeks ago the stars finally aligned and I was able to take the time for a trip. Since I don’t drive anywhere if I don’t have to, I flew up there met Bernd, his girlfriend Daneka and their dog at the West Yellowstone Airport. But first I circled the park and photographed some of the amazing features from a whole new perspective for me.

We spent the next few days driving around the park photographing wildlife. We saw five grizzly bears, but only one that was close enough to photograph. We also saw a pack of 10 wolves, but they too were a bit to far off to work with. But the other animals and the sunsets more than made up for it.

Stock Photography Flight to Eagle City
This past weekend we took a stock photography flight to the airstrip at Eagle City, Utah. A good friend, Cory, and his son Adam came with us in their Cessna 205. The strip is located in the foothills of the Henry Mountains South of Hanksville. When standing on the strip, looking to the West gives you incredible views of the snow-capped Henry Mountains, and looking East fixes your gaze at the red rock mesas and canyons not too far away.
Eagle City was a booming gold mining town back in the 1800’s, with some estimates putting the population as high as 200 people. Unfortunately, the mine kept flooding and the money dried up before they could get the drain holes engineered and built. The town disappeared quickly after that.

We spent most of the day exploring and photographing the Crescent Creek slot canyon just South of the strip. About halfway down the canyon there is a 60 foot drop off where miners had created a dam a long time ago. We were without climbing gear, so we hiked back up the canyon and skirted around the outside to the East were we hiked upstream until the light started fade.
We arrived back the planes just in time to get a great shot of the sun setting behind the mountains and clouds with the airplanes in front. This image is our free computer wallpaper for this month, and you can download it here: Free Computer Wallpaper

Search for Jack McAtee
On September 19, 2014, 27 year old Jack McAtee went missing from Frisco, Colorado. He hasn’t been seen since. He was last seen wearing a red/maroon hoodie, blue jeans, a tan hat and moccasins. Friends and family think one of the areas he might be in is Arches National Park. He liked to hike there and it’s possible that he got a ride to the park, went hiking alone and was injured. A few weeks ago, friends of the family asked us to fly over the “Great Wall” area of the park, one of his favorite hiking areas, and shoot vertical (straight down) photography at 3″ resolution. We’ve created a Google Earth file for the imagery we produced. If you want to help in the search, download the file, click on a marker for the full resolution image and search through it. If you see anything at all, let them know. At the very least we can help eliminate the need to search on foot large areas of the park. It’s been a long time since our last website update, and it was time to make it happen. Please feel free to check out some of the new features we’ve included.
